The moments you have your back against the wall are the moments you realize if you have what it takes or not as an entrepreneur. I’ve had a couple of those moments. The first was when my old business was dying. We had just bought a house, Sarah was pregnant, and I had the worst Christmas on record. I didn’t know what to do. That’s when I decided to pivot and start my own brand of ugly Christmas sweaters.
The next moment came when Sarah lost her job right after giving birth to our son. Ugly Christmas Party was up and running, but we were re-investing everything we could back into the business, and all our bills were based on her income. We now had a newborn and no income. It was pretty much instantly decided that she would come help me and double down our efforts on Ugly Christmas Party. We had no guarantees, but we saw a spark building in this business that was undeniable. We would post a new style on Amazon and instantly it would sell out.. Our backs were against the wall and we had nowhere to go but forward. We still don’t know what the future holds, but we are grateful to be able to do what we love together and spend every day with our son.
