Tyler and I are in search of the Ultimate Holiday drink. We've scoured the internet looking for recipes to try, and have narrowed it down to a select few. Hopefully at the end of this series we will find what we'll be serving on December 25th!
Today, we're discussing our experience making (and drinking) the Candy Cane Vodka recipe from The Speckled Palate. Please note when making this that the recipe says it needs a few hours to steep, but we left it for 2 days. Here are our thoughts.
The Pros:
- Very easy to make
- It has a very Christmas-y flavor, but the peppermint isn't too overpowering. Once we shook it over ice to get it nice and cold, it was a perfect holiday drink
- We basically equated it to the holiday version of Fireball, so if you like that, this is the Christmas drink for you
The Cons:
- Took two days to make, and the recipe doesn't spell out the perfect ratio of candy canes to vodka, so you just have to do your best to guess
Tyler and I both gave the Candy Cane vodka by itself 5 stars. Tomorrow we'll add this same vodka to a holiday staple for our next drink.
